Our Story

Jaclyn Villano, Jeremy Sony, Michael ParsonsTheatre Daedalus was founded in 2008 by a trio of writers — Michael Parsons, Jeremy Sony, and Jaclyn Villano — who came together to create new plays and bring new works to life on the stage. Theatre Daedalus launched it's first season with Project 10, a collaborative evening that showcased a thematic series of 10-minute plays written by each playwright. Project 10 returned in 2009 to book-end season one.

The playwrights have each taken on a major role in the future development of Theatre Daedalus, adopting rotating terms of Managing Director, Artistic Director, and Playwright-in-Residence.

The company currently resides in Columbus, Ohio, but has elements in far-flung places, proving that a theatre is not necessarily a location, but a living, malleable form of art that can take place in more than one locale.

Why Daedalus?

Daedalus, in Greek mythology, was a master craftsman. After building the labyrinth for King Minos, Daedalus and his son Icarus were held prisoner in Daedalus' own creation. However, using wax and feathers, Daedalus forged two sets of wings for him and his son to escape.

It is this kind of ingenuity and creative spirit we wish to honor and emulate. We strive to create scripts that are full of characters that are alive, telling stories of substance, to bring the finest possible theatrical experience to our
