THEATRE DAEDALUS ANNOUNCES BOARD OF DIRECTORS FOR 2009–2010
Daedalus founders expand company leadership to seven
COLUMBUS, OHIO (August 20, 2009)—Theatre Daedalus announced the creation of its Board of Directors, in continuing with their plan to grow into their second season and beyond.
"Our board members bring with them decades of theatrical experience, which is crucial in these early years as Daedalus lays the foundation for building a lasting theater company," Managing Director Jeremy Sony said.
In addition to Sony, the Board consists of: Artistic Director Jaclyn Villano; Playwright-in-Residence Michael Parsons; and At-Large members Tim Browning, Bob Kile, Charlie Sloin, and Sara Weaver. Sony takes over the managing director position from Villano, who guided the company their first season. The company was created by Sony, Villano, and Parsons in 2008.
"We realized pretty early on that for the first season, it could be the three of us," Parsons said, referring to the founders. "But if we wanted to grow, we had to bring qualified people on board. This is a part of the plan, and a great step forward for our company."
With a new Board of Directors, the theater company is prepared to act on its plan for growth. "We're ready to begin the next phase of our operations," Sony said. "With the artistic side of the company falling into place, the board is working on our application for non-profit status. Once we have that in hand, we will launch a fundraising campaign and begin the business of nurturing the theater."
Currently, the founders are in their second year of a three year rotation. The at-large board members are slated for a one-year term through July 2010.
